This story of the US Sanitary Commission is told through the voices of Mr. George Templeton Strong, attorney and Treasurer of the Commission, and Mrs. Catharine Dix, a founding member of the Women’s Central Association of Relief which supports the work of the Commission. Mr. Strong and Mrs. Dix will illustrate how skepticism of 1861 about the need and usefulness of the “Sanitary” had changed to praise by 1865 for its work during the Civil War.

The evening begins with wine and cheese at 6pm, followed by our interpretors in period attire at 6:30pm.

    Date: Saturday March 10

    Time: 6:00pm to 8:00pm

    Cost: $7 per person

Only 25 seats available so please make a reservation at 816-444-1858.
